One of five in the nation. Dedicated to those who fought in the war of 1861-1865. In memory of the Colored Union Soldiers.


















“A Rare Monument” (“– Monument to those who served in the United States Colored Troops erected about 1912 on Academy Green in Hertford, NC, the site of the county’s first black school, library and church.
