Held the first Saturday in June, this annual celebration is a full day of activities with exhibits and demonstrations of old time ways.
Immerse yourself in Eastern NC Colonial history! Some of the demonstrations will be in shingle making, hog killing, cow milking, molasses squeezing, cotton seeding, peanut poppings, corn huskings, weaving, quilting, making featherbeds, washing clothes and even making liquor. Live music, barn dancing, storytelling, singing and good 'ol downhome food round out the day.
Take a tour of the Davenport home which features an upstairs loft, a brick fireplace, rope beds, household artifacts and more. Bring your genealogical records to see if you're related to the Davenports. Hours are from 10 to 4 on June 6, 2009.
