Born of a vison of Richard "Oakie" Morris, our small winery (our first vintage produced 1500 cases) was given the name Moonrise Bay Vineyard because of the spectacular moonrises.
The vineyard actually began in 1997 as a hobby and Moonrise Bay Vineyard, LLC was formalized in 1999. The Winery was completed in August of 2000 just in time for our first harvest. We currently have 14 of 22 acres planted in Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Norton, Syrah, Chambourcin, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Arthur Trottier is our vineyard manager and also Oakie's brother-in-law.The building and operation of the vineyard has been and will continue to be a family affair. Oakie's wife Kate runs the business and ensures that the events are enjoyed by all. The children do everything from helping in the vineyard to bottling the wine.
Our first real harvest was in the fall of 2001 when we harvested 40 tons of grapes. 2002 was an exceptional growing year, producing more than 60 tons of grapes. We invite you to visit Moonrise Bay where pride and passion produce great wines.
